Abstract:
Our industry has always had to deal with change, but change is happening at an increasing rate and producing risks of greater size and with many unforeseen exposures. Climate change, earthquakes, terrorism, nanotechnology and genetic modification are some of the major natural and man-made risks which we now face, but the challenge to the market is present in almost all aspects of scientific and technological development. The changing legal and regulatory framework also provides an uncertain background in which the insurance industry operates. The course will explore some of the recent developments. The market has not, however, been slow to respond and new solutions to risk transfer are always being sought. The course will also address some of these concepts.
